The Sioux City Journal, an innovative 35,000 circulation daily newspaper in Northwest Iowa, is looking for a City Editor to help manage our news team.

The right candidate will be a talented journalist and leader with a demonstrated ability to run an efficient and effective team, a track record of making sound news decisions and a reputation as a ruthless editor of copy. You must be able to manage an experienced group of news reporters and news clerks, help execute a series of online initiatives and be able to work collaboratively with the other members of our newsroom management team.

Our small but feisty, talented staff covers three states (Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota), and has a capitol bureau in Des Moines. We offer an exciting environment in which to continue to grow as a journalist and leader.

We’ve won multiple national and state awards for our journalism, including first place in the National Newspaper Association’s General Excellence contest and runner-up for the Suburban Newspapers of America’s Newspaper of the Year contest.
